The 11th International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow China) kicked off on Tuesday in Zhuhai, South China’s Guangdong Province with a record number of products on show.
A major highlight of the six-day biennial event, China’s J-20 stealth fighter, developed by the Aviation Industry Corp. of China (AVIC), made its public debut on the first day of this year’s airshow, followed by displays of UK’s Red Arrows and Russian Air Force “Warrior” and “Swift” mixed fleet.
Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, COMAC and Sukhoi have all brought examples of their flagship jets to this year’s Airshow China in Zhuhai.
Airbus is showcasing its A350 test aircraft (MSN 002); Boeing a 787-9 in Hainan Airlines’ Kung Fu Panda livery, Bombardier a CS300; a COMAC ARJ21-700 in Chengdu Airlines livery and a Sukhoi Superjet 100 in Yamal Airlines livery.
Airframers have forecast that China’s demand for new commercial aircraft will be among the world’s greatest.
Airbus meanwhile projects that 5,970 passenger and cargo jets will be delivered to China over 2016-2035. China is already its largest market, generating about 20% of its annual production.
Chinese carriers have ordered 32 A350s — 10 from Air China, 20 from China Eastern and two from Sichuan Airlines — with China Aviation Supplies holding a letter of intent for 10 of the type.
Bombardier won a firm order from Chinese lessor CDB Financial Leasing for 10 CS300s, valued at US$472 million.
